This quest is fairly straightforward, but there are some parts that can be very confusing. With Starfield's procedural generation affecting even the main story missions, it's also worth mentioning that players may get sent to a completely different set of planets. Still, the objectives remain the same, so here's a guide covering each quest step and how to complete them.
Into the Unknown: Get the Artifacts and Find Andreja
We'll be splitting this part into two parts — first, players must collect two artifacts and find Constellation member Andreja, who is already working on reaching one of them. Head up to The Eye, a space station operated by Constellation, and speak with Vladimir to get the coordinates for these objectives. The locations may vary from player to player; in our case, one artifact was in Tau Cetti II and Andreja was in an abandoned mine on the planet Sumati in the Narion system.
Thankfully, this part of the quest is a simple smash-and-grab, and all objectives have quest markers pointing to them. Find the artifacts, break the caelumite crystals surrounding them, and then head back to the Lodge to speak with the rest of the crew. Be prepared for a fight, as the segment with Andreja may involve fighting spacers or pirates.
Back at the lodge, place the artifacts on the table and reconvene with the team. Players will then be told to visit another planet, this time to Procyon III, to investigate a scanner anomaly.
Starfield: How to Follow Distortions on the Scanner
After landing on the designated planet, bring up the scanner and start looking around. Players will notice that the HUD will start buzzing and freaking out when they face a certain way. When it does, start running in that direction, and a large, crystalline structure will eventually become visible along with a proper quest marker. Follow the marker to one of the structure's doors to enter Temple Eta.
Ignore the gravitational anomaly POIs on the planet and just keep going toward whichever direction is causing the scanner distortions.
Inside the temple, there's a big, zero-gravity room with a set of floating rings in the middle. To activate it, look around for swirling masses of light and glide through them. Keep doing this until the rings stop moving and form what looks like a portal. Step inside it to unlock a welcome surprise that we aren't going to spoil here.
This concludes the most confusing part of the Into the Unknown quest. Return to the Lodge and share the big discovery with everyone in order to receive a decent payout of Credits and XP.
