To change the playable character's appearance, players will simply need to head to a place called Enhance, which has multiple branches scattered throughout Starfield's many moons and planets. These can be found in just about every major city or settlement, including Neon, Akila City, and the Commercial District of New Atlantis, to name but a few. To get started, players should speak with the staff at one of these locations and then agree to pay a fee of 500 Credits.
What Can be Changed at Enhance?
Players won't have access to the Traits or Backgrounds menu while visiting an Enhance location. Other than that though, they'll be able to tweak and change everything that they could in the tutorial, including the playable character's appearance, their biological gender, and their name and pronouns. After making their desired changes, players will simply need to save and confirm them to have them take effect in-game.
Things to Consider About Character Customization in Starfield
One important thing to note about visiting Enhance is that the playable character will be wearing their in-game attire on the character customization screen. Nine times out of ten this won't be a problem, but if they happen to be wearing a hazmat suit or something else that obscures their face, players won't actually be able to see any of the changes that they're making. Also, while choosing not to save changes reverts the character's appearance back to the way it originally was, any changes made to the playable character's name will remain in effect regardless of whether or not players decide to save.
